St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church

Late in 2018, we were contacted by Fr. Ed Cimbala, pastor of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in NYC. While we had never worked with a Byzantine Catholic church in the past, we knew right away that we were going to work well with Fr. Ed and the St. Mary's team. His initial project was help in promoting a choral Divine Liturgy series taking place at the church, but the relationship has since developed into Gloriam being St. Mary's go-to for any marketing and creative needs.

Pio Prints offers a variety of Catholic goods to encourage and empower women with inspiration from the saints. They offer tee shirts, tanks, paper products, and cards with saint quotes on them to encourage the feminine genius.

Facebook advertising

Pio Prints was referred to us by a friend, and we have absolutely loved working with them. They needed assistance in setting up some Facebook ads for their line of tees and tanks, as well as some of their paper products (cards, notebooks, etc.). The goal was to increase website purchases. After an implementation period, we experimented with various Facebook ads and then eventually began to run those ads continuously after finding success.

Each week, we provide Pio Prints with a report of ad success and discuss the next strategy, either staying with the same audience and ad for that week or pivoting to a new audience or ad depending on results.

The Results

Growth and increased profit

The very first ad we ran garnered more than 5 times the amount spent in profit, a 500%+ ROI. By strategically selecting our ad audience to highlight dedicated Catholic women (without just selecting the "Catholic" filter which will result in thousands of comments just saying "Amen" and does not produce true audience results), we were able to hone in on Pio Prints exact target audience and get them to convert. In total, ads receive approximately 160 views per $1 spent.

After some time, we began to include pixel-driven campaigns such a retargeting from those who visited the website in the past 90 days and did not complete their purchase as well as implement coupon codes and additional ads.
 

Each week, we reevaluate the ad numbers and determine whether to stay the course or shift audiences/ads. Since the beginning of this campaign, Pio Prints has gained almost 3 times the amount in profit that they have spent in advertising (274%).

The overall goal of their marketing campaigns, to increase website purchases, was met through all of the efforts. We are proud to be partners in evangelization with this amazing organization!

Byzantine Catholic Church

St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church is a parish community located in the heart of New York City. They offer Divine Liturgy at 10 am and 6 pm each Sunday and also host a variety of events for the church community, including an active young adult ministry.

Fr. Ed contacted us prior to the start of a choral Divine Liturgy series seeking marketing assistance leading up to this event. The first in the series took place in January 2019, followed by an event in March, April, and June. After learning more about St. Mary's, we put together a multi-faceted marketing campaign for each of the four events, which included advertising on Facebook, Catholic Ad Net, and in the local papers and radio stations; poster and banner design to market the event; and press releases to local Catholic and musically-inclined newspapers as well as music colleges in NYC.

Since the beginning of our partnership for the Choral Divine Liturgy, St. Mary's has also contracted Gloriam for general marketing assistance by creating a welcome brochure to orient new parishioners as well as flyer/banner design and email campaigns to promote the Young Adult Liturgy at 6 pm each Sunday.

The Results

Well-attended events

Facebook advertising proved to be the most effective for this campaign, particularly boosting the Facebook event associated with each leg of the series. Each event had at least doubled the amount of regular Divine Liturgy attendees, with the four total events bringing in more than five times the regular number of attendees.

While it is difficult to determine the ROI on general branding campaigns like banners and flyers, the word of mouth regarding these advertising methods also made its way back to Fr. Ed several times throughout these campaigns.

The overall goal of St. Mary's marketing campaigns, to increase Divine Liturgy attendees, was met through all of the efforts. We are proud to be partners in evangelization with this amazing organization!
